The World Veterinarians’ Day was celebrated at Kerala Small Scale Industries Hall, Chinnakada, Kollam on 25th of April. The function was hosted by the Kollam unit of IVA and KVSSA. The programme began with the Flag Hoisting by Dr. K.G. Unnithan, President of Kollam IVA unit.After administration of the Veterinarian’s oath, the inaugural and award session was welcomed by Dr. Fiji Ferdinand Francis, General Secretary of IVA, Kerala.Dr.Theodore John,president of KVSSA Kerala precided over the meeting.The Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry, Food and Civil Supplies,Sri C.Divakaran inaugurated the function and distributed the awards and prizes. Dr. R.Vijayakumar, Director of Animal Husbandry, Dr. K. Udayavarman, President, KSVC and Dr. R. Sukumara Pilla, President, AHAOK offered felicitations. Dr. T Rajeev, General Secretary, KVSSA, spelled the vote of thanks.

The award session was followed by the commeration lectures on the theme “Veterinarians & Livestock Farmers –A Winning Combination” which was introduced by Dr. Sisy Philip, General Secretary, AHOAK. Sri R. Hali, Retired Director of Agriculture, lectured on Linkage Farming and covered
topics on Food Safety and Security and Employment Generation in the absence of other speakers. Dr. P. Balachandran, Former President, IVA, moderated the session. The day’s programme was closed with thanks by Dr. Binny Samuel, President, KVSSA, Kollam unit.
