Thrissur: (general body of IVA Thrissur)

The general body of IVA Thrissur was held on 26/01/2010 at Veterinarians building Kalliaths square Thrissur. Dr.c.n.dinesh,district president IVA presided over the function .Dr.hareesh.p.s secretary,IVA thriaaur gave welcome speech.All the members present were actively participated in the discussions led by Dr.arunkumar,Dr.k.d.paul,Dr.devaraj,Dr.girisan,Dr.baburaj,and Dr.joy . Dr.soya gave vote of thanks. The agenda for the GB were 1)recent flaws and possible strategies in the light of the fmd outbreak in Thrissur 2)formation of taluk and building committees 3)Proposed shifting of DVC from Thiruvambady The summary of the discussions and suggestions of the GB were FMD---- 1)Unless the potency of the recently used vaccine is examined impartially by an expert team there should be no question of repeating ADCP with the same Vaccine 2)The present trend of containment vaccination using polyvalent vaccine should be dropped and use of specific monovalent vaccine should be preferred once the outbreak is confirmed to be due to a specific strain, as in present case it is O strain 3) all veterianrians are requested by the association to report each and every case of FMD outbreak irrespective of the number being less or more. 4)There should be an outbreak management team manned by the ADCP district headquarters to mobilise manpower and material to the outbreak affected areas including sample collection in the district. 5)It is the moral responsibility of ADCP to inform the respective vets about the titre value and other relevant seromonitoring measures done so far. 6) There should be a means to regulate animal movement at least in the event of an outbreak. Taluk Committees And Building committee Taluk committees for the 5 taluks of Thrissur has been constituted It is proposed to renovate the building room at Kalliaths square to a better ambience and do necessary maintenance to give it a better look and feel.A committee has been constituted to study the estimated cost and other modalities and submit a report within one month. Shifting of DVC--- It is decided to shift the DVC from Thiruvambady and so it is proposed to bring to the attention of district administration to ensure that a standby arrangement is being made to ensure veterinary service in Thiruvambady area

General body of KVSSA Thrissur)
KVSSA THRISSUR unit convened its first general body at das continental, thrissur on 02-02-2010.The function was presided by Dr.Manoj.T.Thettayil,district president ,KVSSA,and addressed by Dr.C.Sreekumar,stste president KVSSA ,Dr.Gopikrishnan,joint secretery,north zone KVSSA,Dr.C.N.Dinesh IVA district president. Dr.Subin,treasurer KVSSA Thriissur welcomed the gathering.Dr.Rajesh,secretary KVSSA Thrissur gave the vote of thanks.A > programme on"TAX SAVINGS AND INVESTMENTS" was conducted in which Satheeshkumar.n, senior divisional manager,SBI LIFE handled the session.


  
     
MEETING OF IVA ,(KOZHIKODE)

MEETING OF IVAUNIT HELD ON 2.2.2010 The meeting began with the delivering of veterinarians' oath by Dr.Jayasree.Dr.Priya (secretary.iva calicut)welcomed the audience . The first agenda was the 'Extempore' competition and one participant from each house peviously anouced were actively particiapted Dr.Muhsin .P.K,Dr.Radhakrishna&Dr.Janardhananwere the judges.Dr. Musthafa.K.T who represented the poodle House spoke on the ill effects of mobile phone usage.Dr.k sheela of the H1NI House spoke on the "newly suggested 3 year MBBS? course".Dr.Shajib of vechur House spoke on "eradication of FMD in Kerala" and Dr.Gireesh of Surabhi House spoke on the "need of Veterinary University in Kerala".The Judges commented on the performance of the participants.Dr.Gireesh of Surabhi House has bagged the Ist place. Dr.Shajib of vechur House was in the IInd place and Dr. Musthafa.K.Tof poodle House came IIIrd. Later Dr.Baby,President intiated discussion on the potency of the FMD vaccine now used in ADCP vaccination campaign.He said that state IVA unit has recommended for ascertaining the Antibody titre by an independent agency and that vaccinations should be continued only after the results of the investigations are declared. Dr.Rajesh.K.C,suggested that discussions should be conducted on how to implement the newly introduced Heifer purchase scheme effectively.D.Baby said that,considering the recent outbreaks of various diseases,especially during festival seasons when more animals are imported, IVA has recommended to stop purchase of animals from outside the state. Dr.Sureh T.Ornadi raised the issue of attending cases at night.In the wake of increasing number of complaints regarding doctors not attending cases at night,he suggeted that IVA should recommend for 'night duty' for veterinarians and doctors taking night duty should be given 'off' during day time. Dr.M.Anand said that Ayurveda & Homeo doctors are now given 'rural allaowance'&n IVA should take up the issue of 'rural allowance for veterinarians' & pressurize more in this regard. In the afternoon session as part of the CVE Programme,Dr.Vinod kumar.P.R handled a very interesting and informative session on "Congenital abnormalities (Persistance of Aortic arch)in pets "as well as" leukemia in pets" The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Dr.Joy,Treasurer followed by National Anthem. 
 
          

Pathanamthitta: (General body of IVA, KVSSA &AHOAK )

A combined general body of IVA, KVSSA &AHOAK was held at Govt.Guest House , Pathanamthitta on 02/02/2010. Dr.Muralikrishnan, Deputy Director, ADDL, Thiruvalla who was promoted to the post of District Animal Husbandry Officer,Kannur was congragulated.Dr.George Varghese,General Secretary IVA,Dr. Sissy Philip,State Sec,AHOAK, Dr.Sukumara pillai,State President,AHOAK,Dr. Sai Prasad, State Treasurer IVA, Dr.Satish kumar, Sec,KVSSA ,Dr. Joseph Scariah,District Animal Husbandry Officer & Dr. Sajeev H, Deputy Director spoke on the occasion

  Dr. George Varghese ,Gen.Secretary, IVA briefed the important activities of the IVA in the previous month including the Technical committee Report on FMD & Meeting with the Secretary to Government.Dr

   Dr.Mathew M.,Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Mallappally & Dr. Deepa Gopinath,Veterinary Surgeon,Veterinary Dispensary,Niranam were elected as the President & Secretary of IVA Pathanamthitta district Unit

Kannur:
The General body of IVA Kannur was held on 02/02/2010 along with the departmental officers meeting. The general body raised queries in the criteria for selecting best vet in the state and the use of Ammonium bicarbonate supplied in veterinary Instituitions.Dr.Dhananjayan took charge as the Tellichery Taluk Secretary. Taluk Level IVA meetings were conducted in the month.
