COLLEGE OF VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES ,MANNUTHY, TRICHUR

The manpower requirement in the field of animal health cover in the States of Travancore and Cochin was met by training their personnel in Bombay, Lahore ,Calcutta and Madras veterinary colleges. With the expanding scenario in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, the requirement of trained manpower increased. To meet this challenge, the Government Veterinary College ( Later re designated as Kerala Veterinary College and Research Institute) was started in 1955 at Mannuthy, Thrissur by the Government of Kerala. The new building of the Kerala Veterinary College and research Institute was opened by the then Chief Minister Sri E M S Namboothiripad. Initially, this college was affiliated to Kerala University and subsequently to Calicut University in 1966.

College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy When the Kerala Agricultural University was formed in February 1972, this college was transferred to it and was renamed as College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. Along with the College, some other farms under the Dept. of Animal Husbandry were also transferred to the University.
