Dr. Shibu Simon, currently serving as Assistant Professor of Animal Reproduction, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur is one of the pioneers to establish the role of exfoliative
vaginal cytology in the breeding management of dogs. He has also been
instrumental in standardization of the technique of semen collection
and artificial insemination in dogs. He had been a member of the team
which achieved the first successful Artificial Insemination in dogs in Kerala. The 13 years of experience as Veterinary Surgeon has also made him to author a book on dogs ("Naykkal: Genussukal, Samrakshanam, Parisheelanam, Prathyulpadanam")
which has been one of the best selling Malayalam book in the field of
canine management. This young expert has been the recipient of several
awards such as Dr N. P. Panicker Memorial Endowment (Best post
graduate student, 1998), Dr Thomas Joseph Memorial Award (Best
Veterinarian, Thrissur- 1999) and State appreciation award as EDITOR,
JIVA (2006). He has 20 research articles, 7 technical articles
and 14 popular articles to his credit. Being a life member of various
professional bodies like Thrissur Canine Club and The Indian Society
for the study of Animal Reproduction, he is constantly upgrading his
expertise and knowledge in the field of Animal Reproduction and
Gynecology, with special emphasis on canine practice.
