In recent years, the graduating veterinarian often has little exposure to farm animal surgical procedures. It is important to train the farm animal practitioner the essential anaesthetic skills required for farm animal surgical procedures.
Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala has decided to conduct a state level training programme on Local and Regional Anaesthesia in Ruminants, at Livestock Research Station, Thiruvizhamkunnu, Palakkad on 11.11.2010 in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Kerala. It will include lectures and practical sessions on nerve blocks, paravertebral blocks and intravenous regional anaesthesia. By the end of the course participants will acquire practical skills to perform local and regional anaesthesia for surgical intervention of the ruminant head, abdomen, limbs and urogenital tract. The course will be suitable for any veterinary surgeon who performs routine farm animal surgical procedures.
