EDITORIAL POLICY

Scope of the Journal

The journal publishes original research, review articles, case reports and short communications in the field of Veterinary science, including preclinical, para clinical and clinical subjects, animal husbandry extension and animal production sciences. Authors are requested to refer to ‘guidelines to authors’ section and prepare manuscripts accordingly. The articles published in JIVA shall remain accessible to readers throughout the world. The journal publishes three issues annually (April, August, December).

Peer Review Policy

Research papers, case reports and short communications submitted for possible publication will be screened by the Editor or Associate Editor. The manuscripts which are beyond the scope of the journal are rejected. The journal follows a double blind peer review process. Selected articles are sent to a reviewer with expertise in the subject area. The reviewers return manuscripts within a period of two weeks, after evaluation along with reviewer’s comments to the editor. Based on the recommendation of reviewer, the editor may accept or reject articles at this stage. The articles selected for publication are returned to the author for corrections. The corrected manuscripts received from the authors are seen by at least one member of the editorial board, before publication is approved by the Chief Editor. Review articles are generally invited by the Chief Editor from researchers with proven track record, upon recommendation of the editorial board. Generally, initial screening of manuscripts takes one week time. Rest of the review process takes about 4-6 weeks. Accepted articles are published online and in printed form, at earliest possible issue.

Research Ethics Policy

Experiments designed and conducted in compliance with relevant international, national, institutional or legal requirements alone will be considered for publication in the journal. The journal does not seek or publish personal information of owners or identification of animals involved in clinical research papers. It is expected that any such data collected shall be with the knowledge and consent of the owner. The authors shall submit a certificate to this effect at the time of submission of manuscript. Chief Editor reserves the right to reject any article which does not meet this requirement.

Post Publication Policy

Revisions are permitted when errors noted does not, by any means affect the interpretation of the experiment. The corrected article alone will be available for download with a note from the corresponding author explaining the changes that were made in the revised version. Note of the corresponding author will be published in the succeeding printed issue of the journal. Manuscripts with serious problems will be evaluated by a committee constituted by the Chief Editor, comprising of members from the editorial board. The committee shall advise the Chief Editor on possible remedial action.

JIVA allows readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and to use them for any other lawful purpose.

Advertising Policy

The current policy is to publish advertisements only from government owned/funded entities, if found necessary.
